Stamping part is a method of forming and processing parts (stamping parts) with required shape and dimension by applying external force to sheet, strip, pipe and profile by press and die to produce plastic deformation or separation. Stamping and forging belong to plastic processing (or pressure processing), which is called forging. Stamping blanks are mainly hot-rolled and cold-rolled steel sheets and strips.

Compared with castings and forgings, stamping parts are thin, uniform, light and strong. Stamping can produce workpieces with stiffeners, ribs, undulations or flanges which are difficult to manufacture by other methods to improve their rigidity. Because of the use of precision die, the precision of workpiece can reach micron level, and the repetition accuracy is high, the specifications are consistent, and holes and convex tables can be punched out.

Stamping parts are mainly metal or non-metal sheet metal, with the help of press pressure, through the stamping die stamping forming, it has the following characteristics:
⑴ Stamping parts are manufactured by stamping on the premise of little material consumption. The parts are light in weight and good in stiffness. After plastic deformation of sheet metal, the internal structure of metal is improved, and the strength of stamping parts is improved.
⑵The stamping parts have high dimensional accuracy, uniform size with the die, and good interchangeability. General assembly and use requirements can be met without further mechanical processing.
⑶In the stamping process, because the surface of the material is not destroyed, the stamping parts have better surface quality and smooth and beautiful appearance, which provides convenient conditions for surface painting, electroplating, phosphating and other surface treatment.
